Rethinking Golfer's Elbow Proximity Blindness Nerve Entrapment in Athletes

Ms Razo was invited faculty at the 2025 International Hand & Wrist Congress and Hand Therapy Symposium in Dubai, delivering two presentations on 8 November 2025. Her first presentation, "A Different Spin: Rethinking Golfer's Elbow", was framed throughout by proximity blindness as the organising clinical concept: defaulting to inflammation when the pathology is degenerative, fixating on the medial epicondyle when sources lie further along the kinetic chain or missing concurrent conditions like a ligamentous injury alongside golfer's elbow. The second presentation addressed nerve entrapment conditions in athletic populations. The Dubai congress was the first public introduction of proximity blindness within Hand Therapy.

Ms Razo delivered two advanced Hand Therapy courses at Hamad Medical Corporation in Doha, one of the Middle East's leading healthcare institutions. Attendees included a highly qualified international cohort of Occupational Therapists, many of whom held the Certified Hand Therapist (CHT) credential, fostering rich clinical discussion and collaborative learning. The courses emphasised evidence-based assessment, treatment strategies to avoid surgery and systematic radiographic analysis.

Ms Razo delivered two comprehensive Hand Therapy courses at the University Medical Center of El Paso, attended by approximately 70 therapists from diverse rehabilitation backgrounds. The sessions provided advanced clinical knowledge and practical skills in TFCC rehabilitation, peripheral nerve assessment and treatment, equipping attendees with techniques directly applicable across a wide spectrum of upper limb presentations.

Ms Razo joined Blair Agero on the More Than Just A Hand podcast to discuss her career path in Hand Therapy, the differences in clinical practice between the United States and the United Kingdom and her transition from NHS employment to establishing a specialist private practice in Belfast.

Victim of Nice attack runs marathon for hospital that rebuilt his hand

Laurence Olding, 33, shattered his right wrist in 12 places escaping the Bastille Day truck attack in Nice in July 2016. Following complex reconstructive surgery at Guy's and St Thomas', including an advanced keyhole technique performed in only a handful of UK centres, Laurence underwent months of rehabilitation led by Ms Razo and her colleague. He made a full functional recovery and went on to run the London Marathon in April 2018, raising funds for the trust.

Ms Razo is named in both the Evening Standard article and the Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust press release as one of the Hand Therapists who led his rehabilitation.
